Longtime Sheridan Nurseries CEO Karl Stensson announced in July he will step down as CEO and President of the organization. In announcing his retirement plans in a news release, Karl says: “It has been an honor to have worked with so many talented and dedicated people at Sheridan to help the company grow into the leader that it is today.”

The company will announce a successor shortly, as the board of directors has been conducting an extensive search for his replacement. Meanwhile, Karl will continue in a reduced capacity as vice executive chairman and director of brand integrity for Sheridan.

Karl’s career at Sheridan spanned five decades, starting as a wholesale sales manager in 1976, and continuing as retail operations head in 1984. He was later appointed vice president of retail operations and became president in 2009, then CEO and president in 2015. During his career, Karl has served on numerous boards in Ontario, Canada, and has been recognized for his contributions to the industry. He says he’ll spend his newfound free time “pursuing positions on corporate boards, as well as spending time golfing and cooking with his wife Valerie, and spending a lot more time with his four grandchildren (soon to be five!).”

We wish Karl a happy retirement. GP
