Cornelius Nursery Opens New Store

Jennifer Polanz

Cornelius Nursery opened its second Houston-area store in Katy, Texas, celebrating its grand opening on February 22. The store has about 4,000 sq. ft. of indoor retail space for home décor, seasonal and a custom design center for wreaths and garlands. The open concept outdoor shopping area is around 30,000 sq. ft. featuring trees, shrubs, groundcovers and more, and a 9,000 sq. ft. greenhouse will provide additional space for tropicals, annuals, lawn décor and other products.

Cornelius Nursery is owned and operated by Calloway’s Nursery, which is based in Fort Worth and has 19 stores around Dallas-Fort Worth. Cornelius Nursery was founded in 1938 in Houston and Katy was chosen for the second location because it’s one of the fastest-growing cities in the greater Houston area.

“We always look to open new stores in thriving communities that are experiencing rapid population growth, like Katy, so we can be a knowledgeable gardening resource to local families,” says Calloway’s Nursery CEO Marce Ward. GP
