Dramm Signs Pledge for Sustainability

Dramm Corporation has been making its Drammatic Fertilizers from fish byproduct for more than 25 years and now the company has signed on to the 100% Great Lakes Fish Pledge, committing to using 100% of each commercially caught Great Lakes fish productively by 2025.

According to the company, only fillets of fish caught by commercial fisheries in the Great lakes are usually eaten, while the remaining 60% of the fish are often “relegated to inexpensive uses or discarded.” This agreement is based on an idea pioneered in Iceland, where 100% of each fish is used for a purpose. About 20 companies have signed the Great Lakes pledge.

“Dramm Corporation is very excited to sign the ‘100% Great Lakes Fish Pledge’ and is committed to continuing to collaborate with its partners on both sides of the Great Lakes to achieve this goal,” said Fritz Dramm, fertilizer production and compliance manager. “Drammatic liquid fish fertilizer is not only a great input for organic agriculture and helpful bio-stimulant for the soil, but it also provides for an ecologically sound recovery of nutrients, which would otherwise be lost to conventional methods of waste collection.” GP
