Hosting a Flower Show

Hicks Nurseries in Westbury, New York, doesn’t just attend local flower shows, it hosts its own. The retailers hosted the 28th annual Flower & Garden Show at the nursery, showcasing a “fantasy of artistic floral displays” to inspire customers. The show ran March 8-25 and was free to the public. Customers stroll through the “gardens” to see how flowers are grown and dream about their own gardens back home. The walk takes customers into the feature garden, a home landscape designed by the Hicks Landscape Design/Build division.

The retailer also scheduled more than 18 free seminars about popular gardening concepts, including organic lawn care, container gardening, pruning, starting seeds indoors, birding and much more. The seminars ran on the weekend days at 10:00 a.m., noon and 2:00 p.m. There also were children’s workshops, after-school programs and planting workshops for both kids and adults.
