Fresh figs are tasty, trendy and tropical. But let’s get back to the “trendy” part. A recent restaurant/food e-newsletter I subscribe to mentioned that fresh figs are the hottest fresh food trend happening right now. Sweet or savory? Doesn’t matter. Chefs are using figs in mostardas (fruit condiment with whole-grain mustard), figs in naan, figs grilled with local honey and blue cheese, and honey-roasted figs on limoncello ice cream!
I say yum to all of it. Be prepared to meet the demand for fig trees, my friends! GP
