2019: Year of …

Jennifer Polanz

Each year the National Garden Bureau (NGB) selects one annual, perennial, bulb crop and edible each to feature for the year. This year, 2019, is the Year of the Snapdragon, Salvia nemorosa, Dahlia and Pumpkin, respectively. The NGB picks these plants because they’re easy to grow, widely adaptable, genetically diverse and versatile, according to the website.

A wide variety of high resolution photos, variety information, planting tips and history can be found at www.ngb.com/year-of-2019.

Retailers also can order posters, print out “Did You Know” signs and purchase “Year of” merchandise like T-shirts and totes. GP
