Postponed and Rescheduled Events

Ellen C Wells & Jennifer Polanz

While some communities are easing their businesses open, the restrictions imposed on gatherings are canceling or postponing many events. We have several such industry events to mention in this category.

IGC Show organizers announced just as we went to press it was postponing the popular retail show due to ongoing State of Illinois regulations on large gatherings. Full details were set to be released soon on the website at www.igcshow.com.

The GCA Summer Tour of Boston has been postponed to the same week in June 2021—that would be June 21-24. For those of you who’ve already registered, GCA will transfer your registration to the June 21-24, 2021 Tour. This will protect you from any potential rate increases, the GCA website states. Additionally, GCA is extending its Extra Early Bird Registration for those not yet registered, but want to lock in the 2021 Tour at the low 2020 rates. You can find out more and get an extra early jump on registration at www.gardencentersofamerica.com/register.htm.

The International Floriculture Expo (FloriExpo), originally scheduled for June 9-11 and had been rescheduled for August, is NOW rescheduled for September 15-17. The show, the largest floral trade show in North America, will take place at the Miami Beach Convention Center. Folks planning to exhibit and/or attend FloriExpo will be receiving additional updates regarding logistics. Questions? Email them at info@floriexpo.com.

The National Lawn & Garden Show is being postponed from June and rescheduled for July 28-29. The 26th annual show connects buyers to vendors in pre-scheduled, face-to-face, 10-minute meetings—a pretty cool concept that saves you time and money. Not yet registered? Do so at www.nlgshow.com.

The Perennial Plant Association (PPA) National Symposium has been canceled and organizers are hoping to reschedule for 2021 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where this year’s event was supposed to take place. Attendee registration fees are to be refunded, and exhibitors and sponsors were to be contacted to talk about options. Attendees should cancel their own hotel and travel reservations. Find out more at perennialplant.org.

All-America Selections, National Garden Bureau and the Home Garden Seed Association have decided to postpone their annual joint Summer Summit, which was to be held in Vancouver, British Columbia, this September. The groups have worked with the host hotel to move the Summer Summit dates to September 8-11, 2021. It’s the same hotel (the Westin Wall Centre in Richmond, B.C.) during that same week of September.

Those who pre-registered will be refunded and the hotel will send you a cancellation notification. Don’t forget to cancel and rebook your flights! GP
