If you’d like to highlight your favorite non-human employee, send us a high-resolution image (anything off a newer smartphone generally works) and a description, including what they do at the store and why they’re vital to your business. Email me at jpolanz@ballpublishing.com.
This month’s sweet girl is Smokey, submitted by Kallie Coleman at Marcum’s Nursery in Norman, Oklahoma.
“Smokey works behind the scenes in the greenhouses and in the office here,” Kallie wrote. “Smokey and her brother, Buddy, were both born here about two years ago. She avoided all human contact until she finally came around to our manager, Golda, her new human mama.
“It took about a year for her to finally warm up to everyone, but with a little patience you can now see her out and about napping in our greenhouses, chasing away mice and greeting our employees with lots of conversations and pets. You’ll most likely find her curled up in her kitty throne surrounded by our monsteras. At the end of the day, she’s the big boss.” GP
