As you just read (if you’re coming from the cover story), diversifying your product options might be a good idea. Here’s a section of products that are made in the U.S., and in many cases, with components that are from the U.S., too. We had an outpouring of interest for this feature, too, so look for Part 2 with more products in the August issue.

DeWitt
For nearly 50 years, DeWitt, based in Sikeston, Missouri, has been producing landscape fabric and other tree and plant protection products. Their Contractor’s Select Plus 2.5 landscape fabric is a spunbond fabric that’s 50% stronger than Contractor’s Select to go under pavers and gravel. The fabric is tough and durable, but still allows air, water and nutrients to pass through for beautiful results—no herbicides required. Made in North Carolina, the fabric is available in black and gray. dewittcompany.com

Article ImageHIP Labels: Plant Tags
The vast majority of plant tags in the HIP Labels lineup are made in the USA, shipping from plants in North Carolina, Tennessee and New Jersey. Not only that, but the raw materials used in the plastic tags come from Wisconsin, Missouri and Indiana, said owner Bob Lovejoy. The eco-friendly MilkMade line of plant tags is partially made from recycled milk jugs and is recyclable itself. The substrate for that line is Made in the USA, too, providing a domestic, eco-friendly option for tags. That domestic production allows for faster shipments, especially for smaller jobs that require a quick turnaround. Bob also teased a new introduction coming at Cultivate’25 this July. You can visit their booth #3519 at the show to find out more. hiplabels.com

Article ImageOrganic Mechanics: Biochar Blend
Organic Mechanics, based in Chester County, Pennsylvania, sources most ingredients from the U.S. for its products, and its Biochar Blend Soil Amendment is 100% sourced here and manufactured at its new facility just outside Richmond, Virginia. Fully charged and ready to use on all types of plants, the Biochar Blend contains biochar, compost, earthworm castings, alfalfa meal, bone char, kelp meal, azomite and zeolite. The biochar is carbon-rich, made from southern pine via a unique process called pyrolysis. Most of the main ingredients come from within 100 miles. Those ingredients are blended together before undergoing an inoculation process, which makes sure it works for plants on day one. organicmechanicsoil.com
