Moana Nursery Ladybug Event

Deanna Gescheider, owner of Moana Nursery, wrote in to let us know about a very successful event they held at all three of their Reno and Sparks, Nevada, locations: the Ladybug Release & Garden Adventure Event.

The all-day event was designed to tie together nature education, gardening, art in the garden and family fun. Some of the events included:

• Live Ladybug Releases & Ladybugs 20% off (take some home)
• Interactive Garden Adventure Scavenger Hunt
• Plant-a-Pot Activity
• Bird Feeder Creation Station
• All-new Moana Grown Stem Studio flower wrap experience featuring stems grown in Minden, Nevada
• Monarch caterpillar display coupled with milkweed
• Fresh Herb Interactive Station
• Preview of the “Garden is Art” Artown Display

That last item is pretty cool on its own—the “Garden is Art” installation transforms the garden center into an immersive outdoor art experience, including more than 250 custom-designed artistic garden containers; large-scale murals painted by a local artist, Emily Reid; a tree sculpture created by Jeff Schomberg; and spectacular hanging basket displays throughout the nursery.

The display was up for the entire month of July and was free to the public to come view.
