The California-based Armstrong Garden Centers recently celebrated its 130th birthday with customers throughout its 31 locations. The stores gave away a free rose plant in a pulp pot (with a retail price of $26.99) to each household, as well as a free cupcake to all in attendance.

The retailer also held a drawing for a free landscape design and held an anniversary sale of 20% off all regular priced items (with some exclusions).

“As we reached a major milestone with our 130th anniversary, we are extremely grateful for the communities that support us and the hard work, dedication and loyalty of our employee-owners, who uphold the vision of our founder, John Armstrong,” says Monte Enright, president of Armstrong Garden Centers.

The rose giveaway was meaningful because the first location on Euclid Street in Ontario, California, became an industry leader in fruit trees and roses in the 1920s. GP
