Boxwood Blight: New Info
Jennifer Polanz
The Horticultural Research Institute (HRI), has released a set of recommended best management practices for dealing with boxwood blight in the landscape. The best management practices are meant to provide guidance to landscape managers regarding practices and their risk of boxwood blight. HRI principals note, however, they’re suggested for voluntary adoption and they’re not mandatory nor legally enforceable.
“Boxwood blight continues to grow as a threat to established landscapes across North America,” says HRI President Gary Knosher. “Boxwood is the most popular broadleaf evergreen sold in the United States and has significant presence in landscapes and historic gardens. Creating voluntary management practices for boxwood health to guide landscape managers what a natural next step in HRI’s commitment in helping the industry mitigate the spread of the disease.”
You can find those best management practices in a Fact Sheet available at www.hriresearch.org.
