Congratulations, Russell’s!

Ellen C. Wells

You may recall that Russell’s Garden Center in Wayland, Massachusetts, had created a film documenting the journey of the 144-year-old business through the early months of the pandemic. The tale of “Growing Through COVID-19” was one much like your own—the uncertainty of opening, of supplies, of health risks and of customers being there once doors were allowed to open.

The latest update about the film is that it’s recently won the Best Documentary Award at the Boston International Film Festival. Amazing!

Elizabeth Russell-Skehan, the business’s owner and the film’s producer, said that the “beautiful shots of flowers and plants, and the music score composed specifically for the film gained praise and appreciation from viewers.” As well they should. I watched the film and I wholeheartedly agree.

Didn’t see the movie? You can learn more about the film and watch the trailer (and maybe see the whole film) at growingthroughcovid19.com. GP
