The newest addition to the Gotham Greens U.S. network of greenhouse farms opened in January 2024 about 20 miles outside of Dallas, Texas. The 13th farm, and the largest one to date, is 210,000 square ft., bringing the company’s total footprint to more than 40 acres in every major region in the country.

Along with being the largest, it’s also high-tech growing, with the latest climate control tech, data science and automation to supply leafy greens and herbs to Whole Foods, Kroger, Sprouts Farmers Market and Amazon Fresh, as well as through food distributors.

The company even offers up a product for the locals in its Lone Star Crunch lettuce, along with its salad kits available in three flavors: Southwest Ranch, Caesar and Green Goddess.

“At Gotham Greens, we’re committed to growing more with less, especially as changing climates are creating less favorable growing conditions across the country,” writes CEO and Co-Founder Viraj Puri on the website. “Our new Texas greenhouse uses the most advanced technology to date, in a fully closed system to help consistently and reliably grow food closer to where people live no matter the weather outside.”

The folks at Indoor Ag-Con recently asked Viraj about the company’s sustainability initiatives and its expansion. Find that interview here, and if you’re going to Indoor Ag-Con in March, mark down the Mid-Morning Keynote at 11 a.m. March 11 where Viraj will be one of four CEA panelists talking about charting the future for controlled environment ag.
